She was born to a family of musicians in her mother’s side, with her father being a jazz musician, who gave her an early start on singing.  Hjelmeland began accompanying herself at the age of 3 and many other musical instruments later on. After attending the Nicolaysen Academy of Music in Oslo, she founded her own record label (Thea Hjelmeland Records) in 1980 after releasing an album featuring her own compositions.

Thea Hjelmeland is a Norwegian singer-songwriter who was born on November 10th, 1991 and raised in Trondheim. When she was just 16, she released her debut album with the acclaimed producer-director-composer team known as Paris. The album went on to produce three UK Top 40 singles: ‘Jealous’ – which reached number 12 on the UK Singles Chart – ‘Drive’, which reached number 13 on the UK Singles Chart and ‘Home’, which reached number 15 on the UK Singles Chart.

In 2014, she signed to Universal Music Group/Decca Records and released her first US single titled ‘Hundred Miles’. In 2015, she released her second US single titled ‘Hey Baby’.
